Euro 2024: Slovakia captain reveals strategy to stop England

Milan Skriniar via beIN Sports

Slovakia captain Milan Skriniar has expressed confidence in his team’s strategy as they prepare to face England in the Euro 2024 round of 16 clash.

The PSG defender believes that Slovakia’s cohesive teamwork can counter England’s reliance on individual brilliance.

“They [England] rely on individual quality and they know that they have players who can decide matches for them,” Skriniar stated. “That is why I think we can handle them through teamwork.”

Skriniar, 29, also noted that the pressure is more on Gareth Southgate’s side, given their status and expectations. “Even in their first match [against Serbia], they went in with the fact that they are England, and they have to manage things in terms of results,” he said. “The media and fans have been critical after their matches, so they will be under much more pressure than us. It can work in our favour.”

Slovakia advanced to the knockout stage by finishing third in Group E, where all four teams ended with the same points—a first in Euros history. Slovakia’s previous campaigns saw them reach the last 16 in 2016, only to be eliminated by Germany, and they failed to progress from the group stage in Euro 2020.

Meanwhile, England beat Serbia by a lone goal through Jude Bellingham before drawing 1-1 and 0-0 with Denmark and Slovenia to top Group C.

The much-anticipated Slovakia vs. England clash is scheduled for Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 16:00 GMT.

“The Governments of Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa have all Paid and sealed their service agreements to become founding members.

“It is somewhat unfortunate, but the agreement that was supposed to be signed did not happen, so at the moment, those four countries will be able to host the Grammys. Hajia4Reall to be sentenced today, June

Hajia4Reall

Ghanaian musician and socialite, Hajia4Real born Mona Faiz Montrage will face sentencing today June 28, 2024.

The socialite’s legal team had earlier pleaded with the court for a three-month sentence because she is a single mother whose presence in the life of her child is very imperative.

But the US Attorney’s Office has countered strongly, citing similar cases to argue for the full 37-month term.

To the US Attorney’s Office, a reduced sentence will not be fair and will not serve as a proper deterrent to people.

Ghanaian socialite, Hajia4Real named the father of her daughter as the man who introduced her to internet fraud.

According to her, she met Allison in 2015 and fell in love with him in the United States of America without having any knowledge of his fraudulent activities.

She later discovered he was into fraud, something he introduced her to and got her involved in.

She said Allison has even been an irresponsible father to their daughter.

Lawyers for Hajia4Real pleaded for a short sentence, indicating that she is a single mother and that her absence could be detrimental to her daughter.

Hajia4Reall has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, one count of money laundering conspiracy, and one count of money laundering. Additionally, she faces one count of receipt of stolen money, which carries a potential 10-year prison sentence, and conspiracy to receive stolen cash, carrying a five-year jail term.

She pleaded to guilty to the charges against her in February 2024.

Reports suggest that Hajia4Reall was involved in a $2 million romance scam. She allegedly communicated with one of her victims multiple times and received wire transfers totalling $89,000, purportedly to fund an unexisting business, ‘The Enterprise’. Her arrest in the United Kingdom led to her extradition to the United States to face these charges.

The US Attorney’s Office has vehemently opposed a reduced sentence, arguing that it would be unfair and fail to serve as an effective deterrent. They have cited similar cases supporting their position for the 37-month term.

Court grants Mohbad’s family permission to conduct a second autopsy

Family of the late 27-year-old Nigerian singer is still seeking justice for their son’s death ten months on.

After a first autopsy report conducted on Mohbad’s dead body months after his death failed to reveal the cause of his death, the family has refused to accept the inconclusive report.

Mohbad, 27, died on 12 September 2023 under controversial circumstances. Almost a year after his death, there appear to be conflicting reports over the cause of his death.

A court has finally granted his family permission to conduct a second autopsy. This decision comes after the family expressed dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy results, which were deemed inconclusive.

After several clamours for justice to ascertain the cause of his death, his body was exhumed on 21 September 2023 for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The autopsy, which commenced in September 2023, released on 7 June, failed to determine the cause of death.

The inconclusiveness of the autopsy results was attributed to body decomposition and potential reactions to medications he received before his death.

The Aloba family rejected the results and, on 16 June, urged the Lagos State Government to confirm the autopsy’s authenticity because of the public’s doubts and conflicting reports.

Mohbad’s family appealed to the coroner’s inquest’s presiding magistrate to ensure that an independent toxicology report is submitted to the court before the final report is submitted to the authorities.

The coroner’s inquest, whose role is to determine the identity of the deceased, the time, cause, and manner of death, has so far revealed that the first autopsy provided no conclusive cause of death.

Gratitude

During a Wednesday hearing at a magistrate court in Ikorodu, Mohad’s family and their legal representatives were granted permission for a second autopsy,

With PREMIUM TIMES in attendance, at a subsequent press conference, the family and their legal team confirmed they received the court’s authorisation to proceed with the additional autopsy.

The Aloba family has been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the initial findings of the autopsy and has demanded an independent post-mortem and toxicology test.

The first autopsy, conducted with the state government’s involvement, did not yield affirmative results.

They questioned the authenticity of the toxicology test, allegedly conducted in the United States, which the US lab later denied.

Now, the family has been granted permission to conduct a private independent autopsy.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, expressed gratitude for the court’s decision to allow for a second autopsy.

“I appreciate the responses all along to the death of Mohbad. We appreciate the judiciary for this decision. There is a reason for the government to instruct that we exhume Mohbad for them to know the cause of his death.”

At the court hearing, the singer’s father expressed shock at seeing his daughter-in-law Wunmi and his estranged wife (Mohbad’s mum).

He said: “It was sad seeing the mother and the wife because we haven’t been communicating for some days; it was like a shock.”

Second autopsy concerns

Asked when the results of this second autopsy would be ready, Grace Shorinde, one of the Aloba family representatives, responded, “If we consider today’s coroner inquest, we are already time-bound”.

“Whatever we do, we must have the results before 7 August. After concluding the coroner’s inquest, the legal team approached Joseph Aloba, who emphasised the urgency of acting on the received information.

“Those who were advocating for the boy’s burial now understand that Mohbad cannot be buried until the cause of death is determined, which must happen between now and 7 August,” she affirmed.

Music in Ghana is a ‘thankless’ job – M3nsa

Ghanaian musician an filmmaker, M3nsa has claimed that a music career in Ghana is not appreciated enough.

He explained that Ghanaians will love and support musicians at a point and reject them in another time.

In an interview on 3FM Drive on Wednesday, June 26, M3nsa while referencing his experiences, narrated the difficulty he went through when he decided to crowdfund his BONDZIE album.

He recalled that at a point, his own family members who knew he was into music as his career were reluctant to support his crowdfund.

For all these reasons and challenges, M3nsa believes a career in music in Ghana is a “thankless” job.

“It’s a thankless job in a sense, of course it is. You know you get loved…even some family members were actually making me sell the idea to them. I don’t need to sell the idea to you, you know what I do but you know we took up the challenge and some people came through and they made up for the all the push backs and struggling,” he stated.

In buttressing his point, M3nsa further revealed how the Music Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) delayed in supporting him in a project when he reached out for funding for a project.

M3nsa said although he went through the official processes required, MUSIGA only reached out to him after the project has been manifested and accomplished.

“We went there for funding and they told us to write a letter after we went through the process and we got a response after the film has been launched,” he added.
