  UNESCO and China Provide Critical Medical Aid to HIV-Positive Orphans UNESCO and the Chinese government have embarked on a humanitarian mission to deliver surgeries and free medical screenings to HIV-positive orphans residing at the Compassion Orphanage. This joint endeavor seeks to offer vital healthcare and assistance to some of society's most at-risk individuals.Mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV is a major public health issue, especially prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa. If no preventive measures are taken, an HIV-positive mother has a 15% to 45% chance of passing the virus to her child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.  However, with proper antiretroviral therapy, this risk can be reduced to less than 5%. Despite advancements in medicine, the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS remains a significant hurdle in both preventing and treating the illness.
