Shatta Bandle Issues Apology for Violating Nigeria's Currency Laws

Firdaus Iddrisu, known on social media as Shatta Bandle, has publicly apologized to Nigerians and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after a video showed him distributing Naira notes in Lagos.

During his recent visit to Nigeria for Mr. Ibu’s funeral on June 28, Shatta Bandle was captured on video throwing Naira notes into the air, which quickly went viral.

Nigeria has strict laws against the misuse of its currency, making Shatta Bandle’s actions a notable breach of these regulations.

Earlier in the year, a similar incident involved Nigerian celebrity Bobrisky, who was apprehended by the EFCC for spraying cash at a movie premiere, charged with currency abuse.

In his apology, Shatta Bandle expressed regret and clarified that he had no intention of violating any laws in Nigeria.

He explained that he initially used dollars but switched to Naira when the dollars ran out, inadvertently breaking the law.

Shatta Bandle conveyed his respect for the EFCC and Nigerian regulations, referring to Nigeria as his second home.

"I want to apologize to everyone; I didn't come to break any laws because Nigeria is like a second home to me. I sincerely apologize to everyone, especially the EFCC, and ask for forgiveness," he said.
